Twifemi, 2026
Fabric, toy stuffing, ribbon, beads and metal
80 x 30 x 5cm

Twifemi is part of the Mojinui series, where language is translated into soft, tactile forms. Constructed as a chain of hiragana plush letters, the work references the Japanese internet slang “twifemi,” a term often used on social media to mock or dismiss voices associated with feminism or gender equality.

By rendering this charged word in soft materials such as fabric, stuffing, and decorative elements, the piece contrasts the harshness of online discourse with a playful and soft physical presence. The linked structure, held together by carabiners and metal rings, suggests both connection and constraint, echoing how language circulates, attaches, and accumulates meaning across digital spaces.
