Untitled (Harry), 2024 , installation
PVC pipe, wire, fabric, sponge foam, cardboard, expanding foam and toy stuffing
150x200x240 cm

Untitled (Harry) is exhibited in a low-ceilinged space that once housed a Sainsbury’s refrigerator. The intense white lighting recalls the harsh glare of office overhead lights, casting an oppressive atmosphere that feels both banal and suffocating. At the center stands an enlarged male figure in a suit, his head covered in sequins. This strange combination exaggerates the image of corporate masculinity while also destabilizing it, creating a tension between authority, absurdity, and vulnerability.

The figure’s posture resists a single interpretation. It might be seen as straining to hold up the collapsing ceiling, as if burdened by invisible weight. It could also suggest a raised arm ready for confrontation, or conversely a triumphant gesture of celebration. By refusing clarity, the work asks the viewer to confront the contradictions and uncertainties embedded in the performance of masculinity, power, and labor in contemporary culture.
