Untitled (Jason) is a site-specific interactive installation composed of two parts. Five fabrics are camouflaged against the brick wall, and audiences are invited to lift the first layer to reveal collaged male faces beneath.
Viewers are also encouraged to shine a light through a hole, where they will discover cardboard cutouts set deep in the darkness. These cutouts depict biceps adorned with objects associated with the stereotypical male gaze, such as cars, neckties, and expensive watches.
The installation plays with visibility and concealment, asking the audience to physically uncover and illuminate the work.
In doing so, it mirrors how ideals of masculinity are layered, constructed, and often obscured by cultural expectations.
The act of shining a light becomes symbolic, prompting viewers to confront the ways in which these stereotypes are performed and reinforced. The exaggerated biceps paired with symbols of power and status highlight the fragility of these ideals, revealing masculinity not as natural or stable but as staged and performative.
